about

I wanted to have a grand old jazz ballad on the album. Translated 'So oder so ist das Leben', written by Hans Fritz Beckmann (lyrics) and Theo Mackeben (music), into English and contacted UMG Music. No reply for too long, so I wrote my own grand old jazz ballad, using some of the words of my translation.

lyrics

Come What May In July Jan Hauenstein

(Am7) (D) (Cj7) (D) (G) (G6)
(Am) Come what (D4)may (Gj7)in Ju(G6)ly,
(C) Lightning or (Cm) clear blue (G)sky,(G6)
Just (C)give it (D)your best (G)shot. (Am7) (D7)
(Em) And after each (B7)heavy rain
The (C)sun will shine (D#)bright again,
And (E7) more often than (Am)not,
(D) Whatever you´ve (B7)got,
It´s (C)useless (D7) to wonder (Em) why. (Em9)

(Dm6) When you have to (Am)choose
Which (Bb6)road you want to (Fj7)go,
Step (Cj7)lightly on your (D)way. (D2)
(G) When your road (B7)brings good news,
Then (Em)go with the (C)flow,
And en(G)joy every (Cm)minute of every (G)day. (Gj7) (G6) (Gj7) (C) (Am) (D) (D4)

After (G)one week of (C)happiness,
It´s (G) not too hard to (C)guess
The (E)blues will soon come a(Am)long. (D7)
When (G)life hits you on the (C)head,
Just (B7) say, “My, that´s too (E7)bad,”
Dust (Am7)off your clothes, (Cj7) walk (D)on. (D4) (D)

(Am) Come what (D4)may (Gj7) in Ju(G6)ly,
(C) Lightning or (Cm) clear blue (G)sky,(G6)
Just (C) give it (D)your best (G)shot. (Am7) (D7)
(Em) After each (B7)heavy rain
The (C)sun will shine (D#)bright again,
And (E7) more often than (Am)not,
(D) Whatever you´ve (B7)got,
It´s (C)useless, mm, (D7) to wonder (Em)why. (Em9)

(Dm6) When you have to (Am)choose
Which (Bb6)road you want to (Fj7)walk,
Step (Cj7)lightly on your (D) way. (D2)
(G) When your road (B7)brings the blues,
Com(Em)plaints or idle (C)talk
Won´t (G)make it, no, no, (Cm) go a(G)way. (Gj7) (G6) (Gj7) (C) (Am) (D) (D4)

When (G)life hits you (C)on the head,
Just (G)say, “My, that´s too (Cj7)bad,”
Dust (E)off your clothes, (Am) walk on. (D7)
(G) Further on (C)up the road
You´ll (B7)lose some of your (E7)heavy load,
And (Am7)better times (Cj7) will come a(D)long. (D4) (D)

(Am) Come what (D4)may (Gj7) in Ju(G6)ly,
(C) Lightning or (Cm)clear blue (G)sky,(G6)
Just (C) give it (D)your best (G)shot. (Gj7) (G6) (Gj7) (C) (Am) (D) (G)

Why no free uploads? I cover songs. Register them with the German music rights agency GEMA. They hopefully reimburse the artists. The tax authorities demand that I make (not lose) a little money each year...
