Factual Romance German poem Erich Kästner/Translation and music Jan Hauenstein

(Am7) (D7) (D7/4) (D7) (Em) (Em9) (Em)
They'd known each other (Cj7)for eight (Am)years(Am7)
(And (D7)one might say quite well at (G)that), (D7)
When they (F)lost their love amid some (Bb)tears,
Like (Am)others lose a (G)cane or (Am)hat. (Am7) (D7)
(Em) (Em9) (Em) (Am) (Am7) (D7) (D7/4) (D7) (Em) (Em9) (Em)

A sadness came they (Cj7)sought to (Am)hide,(Am7)
Tried (D7)kisses, clueless, with no (G)plan, (D7)
Looked (F)at each other, eyes so (Bb)wide.
At (Am)last she wept, (G) beside her (Am)man. (Am/G) (Fj7) (G)
(Am) (Am/G) (Fj7) (G) (G/F#) (Em)

From the window they waved (Cj7)ships a(Am)way,(Am7)
He (D7)said, ‘Already a quarter past (G)four, (D7)
(F)Time for a coffee, don´t you (Bb)say?’
A pi(Am)ano was tinkling (G) behind the next (Am)door. (Am7) (D7)
(Em) (Em9) (Em) (Am) (Am7) (D7) (D7/4) (D7) (Em) (Em9) (Em)

They went to the smallest ca(Cj7)fé in (Am)town,(Am7)
Stirred (D7)coffee with a shaking (G)hand. (D7)
When (F)evening came, they were (Bb)still around.
They sat a(Am)lone, they (G)made not a (Am)sound,
And (Cj7)simply (D)could not under(Em)stand.

Sachliche Romanze

Why no free uploads? I cover songs. Register them with the German music rights agency GEMA. They hopefully reimburse the artists. The tax authorities demand that I make (not lose) a little money each year...
