(C) (G) (Am7) (D)
There is a (G)paradise in (C)Idaho with (D)mountains to the (Em)sky,
With (C)forests to the (G)river’s edge, the (Am7)air is crisp and (D)dry;
The (G)deer produce their (C)little ones, spotted (D)spirits prancing (Em)free,
They (C)flash across a (G)bright sunbeam, then (Am7)dart behind a (D)tree.
But (B7)to the West a (Em)shadow lies, rusting (Am)tanks in underground (D)rows
That (C)once produced the (G)power it took to (D)vaporize our (Em)foes.
A(B7)bandoned now, their (Em)nuclear guts seep (Am)deep into the (D)soil,
(C)Oozing toward the Co(G)lumbia, whose (D)waters soon may (Em)boil.

(G)Forty billion (C)dollars might as (D)well have been a (Em)dime,
They (C)haven’t even (G)made a dent in the (Am7)radioactive (D)slime.
There’s (G)still more than fifty million (C)gallons of (D)glowing poison (Em)goo,
(C)Politicians (G)wring their hands and (Am7)don’t know what to (D)do.
So they (B7)cut the cost of (Em)cleanup to (Am)patronize their (D)base,
They (C)fire any safety (G)experts who (D)try to make a (Em)case
(B7)For the costly tech(Em)nology re(Am)quired to clean up the (D)mess,
So the (C)project stalls, what´ll (G)happen next (D) is anybody´s (Em)guess.

(G)Nagasaki, Hi(D)roshima,
(C)Chernobyl, Fu(D6/B)kushima,
It´s (Em)getting a tad more (Am)difficult
(Am7) To look the other (D)way.
(G)Blood cells rage out (D)of control,
The (C)devil´s rich, let´s (D6/B)sell our soul,
(Em)Three Mile Island, (Am)Sellafield and (Am7)(hold)Hanford -
There´ll be hell to (D)pay.(D2) (D)
But (G)we live two hundred (C)miles away, (D) here in God’s coun(Em)try,
The Co(C)lumbia flows the (G)other way, (Am7)rolling to the (D)sea.
Its (G)radioactive (C)waters (D)won’t reach us, you (Em)know,
But (C)when a hot cloud (G)rises,
You´ll (Am7)never know which (D)way the wind will (G)blow. (C) (D)
There is a (G)paradise in (C)Idaho with (D)mountains to the (Em)sky…

Why no free uploads? I cover songs. Register them with the German music rights agency GEMA. They hopefully reimburse the artists. The tax authorities demand that I make (not lose) a little money each year......more
