(Gj7) (E7) (A7) (D7/4) (Bm7) (Em7) (Am7) (D7)
(G)Grittner´s Fred - he´s (Em)where it´s at,
(C)Charlie Wood(C5)ward - (D)sweet and smart,
(G)That guy DeLong - you (Em)can´t go wrong,
(C)Terry Lee (C5)Ransom - (D)big hat and handsome,
And that (C)cool cat, Hauen(D)stein -
(G)Good Lord Al(C)mighty, that´s In(D)telligent De(G)sign!
(G)Plato and Socrates, (Em)Greek philosophy,
(C)Mighty, mighty (C5)clever, as (D)most folks would agree,
But (G)it´s all relative, says (Em)Albert Einstein -
(C)Wasn´t he a (C5)sure sign of In(D)telligent Design?
(G)Some say it´s all (Em)good, but let us see -
(C)Will it still be (C5)good on (D)closer scrutiny?
Maybe (C)yes, maybe no, and (D7)here we go:
The (G)northern gannet tries to (Em)land, but can it?
It (C)tries, but it (C5)can´t, somer(D)saults across the land
And (C)lands with a thud (D)right there in the mud.
And the (G)same is true for the (Em)foolish guillemot,
It (C)also tries to (C5)land, it (D)also can not.
There´s (C)something wrong with their (D)landing gear,
In(Em)telligent Design? A mis(B7)take was made, I (hold)fear!
Lord, Lord, Lord, Lord, for you a (Em)million years pass by in the (Am)wink of an eye,
Are you (D7)happy when you look down from your (Gj7)home up in the sky?
A single (Em)week for the earth may just (Am)not have been enough,
For (C)some of us down here life (D)can be kind of tough.
(G)Migraine, diarrhoea, cancer, (Em)heart attacks and strokes,
(C)Hitler, Bín (C5)Laden, sad-assed (D)Assad and those folks
From the (G)very, very shallow end (Em)of the gene pool, Bachmann
((C)Michelle and (C5)Lutz) and the (D)Donald, what a fool!
The (C)Mafia, the Klan, (D)the Islamic State,
Would you (Em)wake up and do (Am)something be(C)fore it´s way too (D)late?
- Instrumental, eight bars, like the ‘Intelligent design, Intelligent Design’ section -
(G)Droughts and famine, tsu(Em)namis and earthquakes,
Are (C)you the (C5)one who de(D)cides when the earth shakes?
(G)Warlords, child soldiers, (Em)drugs and greed and rape,
This (C)world sure (C5)is in a (D)sad and sorry shape.
And there´s at (Em)least one more thing that didn´t turn out all that well:
A bloody (B7)root canal treatment still (hold)hurts (B7)(hold)like (B7)(hold)hell!
Lord, Lord, Lord, Lord, for you a (Em)million years pass by in the (Am)wink of an eye,
Are you (D7)happy when you look down from your (Gj7)home up in the sky?
Can you still (Em)gaze at the world and (Am)say, “It is good”?
If you (D7)see what I see, don´t you (Gj7)think you could
Agree the (Em)mission´s not accomplished? Back (Am)to the drawing board,
(C)Intelligent Design #(D7)2, please, oh (G)Lord.
…And I say to myself, (C)‘It´s an (D7)imperfect (G)world.’
Intelligent De(E7)sign, In(A7)telligent De(D7/4)sign,
In(Bm7)telligent De(Em7)sign could be so (Am7)mighty, mighty (D7)fine…
(Gj7) (E7) (A7) (D7/4) And (Bm7)please don´t (Em7)take Sunday (Am7)off, (D7) this (G)time.

More than background music.
You'll hear folk, blues, jazzy songs, rock. Big voice. Albums recommended by
Gordon Bok, Harvey Andrews, Jez Lowe and others. janhauenstein@gmx.de
Why no free uploads? I cover songs. Register them with the German music rights agency GEMA. They hopefully reimburse the artists. The tax authorities demand that I make (not lose) a little money each year......more
