Als sie ein(G)ander acht Jahre (B7)kannten
(und man darf (Em)sagen, sie kannten sich (Am)gut), (Am7)
kam ihre (D)Liebe plötzlich ab(F)handen,
Wie (Bb))andern Leuten ein Stock oder (Am)Hut. (Am7) (D) (C) (D)

Sie waren (G)traurig, betrugen sich (B7)heiter,
versuchten (Em)Küsse, als ob nichts (Am)sei, (Am7)
und (D)sahen sich an und wussten nicht (F)weiter.
Da (Bb))weinte sie schließlich. Und er stand da(Am)bei. (Am7) (D) (C) (D)

Vom (G)Fenster aus konnte man (B7)Schiffen winken.
Er sagt, es (Em)wäre schon Viertel nach (Am)vier (Am7)
und (D)Zeit, irgendwo (F)Kaffee zu trinken.
