lyrics

Two Horses Jan Hauenstein/story by Tom Barrett

(G) (B7) (Em) (Em7) (C) (D) (G)
Just up the road from (B7)my home there´s a (Em)field, (Em7)
There are two (C)horses, (D) two horses (G)grazing.
Don´t just walk on (B7)by, take a little (Em)time, (Em7)
Walk a little (C)closer, you´ll see (D)something quite a(Em)mazing.
(C) Look into the (D)eyes of the (Em)big horse,
(C) Big old (D)beast, big and (Bm)kind,
(C) See the eyes glazed (D)over, milky (Em)white…
(Am) That big old (Am7)stallion is (D)blind.(D2)(D)
(G) (B7) (Em) (Em7) (C) (D) (G)

Just a few steps a(B7)way grazes the (Em)small horse, (Em7)
Listen to her (C)bell, (D) ringing loud and (G)clear.
She´s always making (B7)sure that she´s not too (Em)far away, (Em7)
Always making (C)sure the (D)big old horse can (Em)hear
(C) The sound of the (D)bell that beckons (Em)‘follow’,
(C) The sound of the (D)bell that says, I´m (Bm)here’,
(C) The sound that (D)tells him, ‘Just (Em)trust me’,
(Am) That says, ‘I´ll (Am7)always be (D)near.’(D2)(D)
(G) (B7) (Em) (Em7) (C) (D) (G)

Witness now (B7)how the big horse (Em)follows, (Em7)
Pricking up his (C)ears (D) to hear the sound of the (G)bell,
How the (B7)little mare takes (Em)care (Em7)
To a(C)void the trees, (D) and you can (Em)tell
(C) As he (D)slowly trots be(Em)hind her,
(C) Trusting (D)her to lead the (Bm)way,
(C) That he (D)knows full (Em)well
(Am) She´ll never (Am7)lead him a(D)stray.(D2)(D)
(G) (B7) (Em) (Em7) (C) (D) (G)
(F) (C) (D) (G) (F) (C) (D) (G) (F) (C) (D) (G) (F) (C) (D) (G)
(B7) (Em) (Em7) (C) (D) (G)

Consider the (B7)horses in the (Em)field, (Em7)
There may be a (C)moral, (D) I don´t (G)doubt it.
Don´t ask (B7)me, for I won´t (Em)tell, (Em7)
Take a little (C)time, (D) and think a(Em)bout it.
(C) (D) (Em) (C) (D) (Bm) (C) (D) (Em) (Am) (Am7) (D)(D2)(D)
(G) (B7) (Em) (Em7) (C) (D) (G)

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each looks
like every other horse. But if one stops the car, or is walking by, one will notice something
quite amazing.
Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to
have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing.
Listening, one will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound,
one will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field. Attached to her bridle is a small
bell. It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her.
As one stands and watches these two friends, one sees how she is always checking on him,
and that he will listen for her bell and then slowly walk to where she is, trusting that
she will not lead him astray.
Good friends are like stars…….You don´t always see them,
But you know they are always there.

Why no free uploads? I cover songs. Register them with the German music rights agency GEMA. They hopefully reimburse the artists. The tax authorities demand that I make (not lose) a little money each year...
